US cranberry production is forecast at 5.58m barrels in 20001, marginally up on the previous year but 12 per cent down on the 1999 level. Of this, 53 per cent, the equivalent of 2.95m barrels, is expected to come from Wisconsin and 29 per cent, 1.64m barrels, from Massachusetts - the latter a 16 per cent reduction on 2000. New Jersey and Oregon are to provide a further eight per cent (450,000 barrels) and six per cent (360,000 barrels), respectively. Output in Washington is predicted at 176,000 barrels, a two per cent fall over the previous season but marking a significant 20 per cent rise on 1999 (Source: USDA).
