Utopia UK Limited has been ranked in the top100 in the Deloitte & Touche Indy awards for the UK's fastest growing companies. The only produce company to feature among this year's winners, Utopia UK, based in Lincolnshire, has an annual turnover of £28 million.

The leading companies were announced in this week's Independent on Sunday, which runs the awards in association with professional services firm, Deloitte & Touche. The competition examined the growth rates of over 6,100 companies with a turnover of between £5-100 million to establish the top 100.

Nigel West, joint managing director of Utopia UK is delighted with the result. He said: 'In a challenging marketplace we have enjoyed steady growth over the last few years. The key to the success of our business lies in the strong links we have with our customers here in the UK and our supply base all over the world. We have worked hard to grow the market for exotic produce such as mangoes, papayas, pineapples and lychees.

'These aren't essential grocery items but we have begun to put exotic fruits on the map as every day luxuries. This accolade is a reward for the hard work and dedication of the team.' Utopia UK supplies catering companies, wholesale businesses and the country's leading supermarkets including Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Waitrose with exotic produce sourced from countries as far afield as Thailand and Patagonia. It was formed in 1994 by joint managing directors Kevin Jameson and Nigel West.
