Stirfresh winning rural business oty 2015

Scottish vegetable supplier Stirfresh has won a six-month contract with Aldi to supply 2kg packs of Maris Piper across the discounter’s Scottish stores.

With volumes estimated to be around 1,000 tonnes during the new contract, Stirfresh said the deal will work well alongside its established processing operation to reduce waste. Stirfresh already supplies soup packs into Aldi, as well as its branded pre pack potatoes into Spar and its public service business.

“We hope this will be the beginning of a lot more, which will be good for the north east of Scotland,” said Stirfresh managing director, Andrew Stirling.

“The combination of packing fresh potatoes for Aldi works well with our processing plant, as we can use all the pick off from the packing line, therefore there is no real waste.”

The company has also been awarded the tender to supply schools in the Fife region of Scotland, adding to its business supplying Aberdeenshire schools, and recently won Rural Business of the Year at The Courier Business Awards 2015.
