Vitacress Salads has been named in the top 100 UK firms with fastest growing profits in a new report.

The Andover-based company was listed in 77th place in The Sunday Times Price Waterhouse Coopers Profit Track 100.

The company, which has 14 farms in the UK, Portugal, Spain and Kenya, supplies more than a million bags of salads to UK supermarkets each week. It received praised for its recently developed proprietary technology Vitatrace, which allows the company to track products from seed to bag. It has also been working in conjunction with seed houses to develop its own seeds.

The report was compiled by Oxford-based independent research company Fast Track, who said that operating efficiencies at the company have helped profits grow by 44 per cent a year from £1.5 million in 1999 to £4.4m in 2002.
