Webbs hosts kids growing competition

Webbs Garden Centre at Wychbold, Worcestershire was the host for a special children’s growing competition, where youngsters fought it out for top honours in a competition to grow Angelonia Serena Summer Sunshine bedding plants supplied by Ball Colegrave.

An impressive 1,181 pupils from 17 schools and 185 other children had been busy nurturing the plants, judged during the UK Garden Centre of the Year’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

All the entrants who took their plants for judging received a medal, with a winner picked from each school. The two Champion of Champions who received a trophy, Webbs vouchers and tickets to Drayton Manor Theme Park were Matthew Parsonage of Meadows First School in the schools category and Rosie Dale from Telford in the individuals category.

The weekend event was the culmination of weeks of anniversary activities. An exhibition highlighting the family firm’s remarkable history on the site had proved hugely popular with customers.
