Marks & Spencer is claiming to be the first high street retailer to sell wild strawberries, from today.
The chain is stocking Kent-grown French variety Fraise des Bois.
At about a centimetre in diameter, the variety is a quarter the size of an ordinary strawberry. It also has a distinctive taste profile, which has made it popular in the catering arena.
The fruit is on-shelf at £2.99 for 100g.
