A wireless electronic temperature tag providing full control over perishables throughout the cool chain has been developed by Intelligent Devices Inc and Evidencia LLP.

Log-ic Thermassure RF, a “Class 3 RFID sensor” tag records and stores up to 4,000 measurement points as a progression curve and interprets them in a temperature histogram.

Using a 13.56 MHz RFID radio frequency reading system on a PC or laptop, the data can be read from the watertight tag, measuring 6cm x 6cm x 3mm, at a range of up to 400 metres.

The wireless technology means that the Log-ic temperature tag does not need to be removed from the packaging, ensuring that the cooling chain remains unbroken.
