This year Marshal Papworth Scholarships have been awarded to three Writtle College students on the MSc International Horticulture course. Awarded by the Marshal Papworth Trust of the East of England Agricultural Society, the scholarships are offered in a bid to support agricultural and horticultural students from developing countries.

These competitive scholarships cover tuition fees and living expenses and are awarded to students who, in the view of the judging panel, will be able to apply their qualifications for the benefit of the wider community on returning to their home country.

The Marshal Papworth Trust organises several events for their scholars including a visit to the East of England Show in June 2009.

The MSc International Horticulture course is taught jointly with the technical university in Den Bosch in The Netherlands. Students spend their first term at Writtle, the second term in Den Bosch and then return to England to complete their dissertations during the summer.
