Sam's Club Wal-Mart

Sam’s Club has continued its expansion into China, opening its first store in Hangzhou, according to InsideRetail.Asia.

Walmart’s membership-based retail arm now has nine Chinese stores, with the company’s chief operations officer Andrew Miles confirming plans are underway to open another outlet in Suzhou.

Sam’s Club is aiming to meet Chinese consumers’ growing interest in global brands, with the new store stocking over 4,000 different kinds of products, including extensive fresh fruit and produce lines.

Miles says China’s developing middle class and disposable income are driving the company’s interest in the Asian nation.
