The International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS) is supporting Asia Fruit Logistica with the launch Smart Horticulture Asia: a new, high-level, Asia-wide business forum that focuses on information management, standards and communication technology.

The one-day conference will take place on Thursday 8 September 2016 during Asia Fruit Logistica, which runs from 7-9 September at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo.

“Asia has a huge consumer market and is also a very big producer of fresh fruits and vegetables” said IFPS chairman Ed Treacy. “IFPS is open for collaboration with growers, traders, retailers and their associates in Asia to share knowledge and information regarding standards and best practices for the fresh produce supply chain. Smart Horticulture Asia in Hong Kong will be a unique event that builds international networks for fresh produce standards.”

Wilfried Wollbold, commercial director of Global Produce Events, the organiser of Asia Fruit Logistica, said his company welcomed the opportunity to work alongside IFPS on an event that promises to help shape the future of information exchange in the fresh produce industry.

“IFPS has an excellent network of international member organisations and a wealth of expertise that comes along with it,” Wollbold explained. “Smart Horticulture Asia offers a unique opportunity to contribute to information and knowledge exchange among all continents in fresh produce.”

Smart Horticulture Asia will be powered by Frug I Com, the organiser of the EU Fresh Info Forum & Round Table, which takes place every year in the Netherlands.
