A senior member of the Chinese Embassy has said that the country is opening its doors to a range of Indonesian fruit including durian, mangosteen and rambutan.
Gu Shengqian, third secretary of the Chinese Embassy, said that the fruit was becoming more popular in the country's market whereas previously produce such as Durian had been avoided by consumers, Bernama reported.
'In China, the price of mangosteen fruit may reach RP60,000 per kg, and they are only available at supermarkets,' he said.
Indonesia's exports to China increased by some 28 per cent to US$9.6bn last year, and have already hit US$8.5bn this year, according to head of marketing development for Asia, Australia and New Zealand Nuryati Lagoda.
