Generic mangoes Malaysia

Vietnamese cooperative Hoa Loc has exported its first shipment of mangoes to Japan as part of a 100 tonne contract signed with importers recently.

The first 10 tonne shipment is part of a plan by the cooperative to market 300 tonnes for the current Tet (Chinese New Year) festival, said the cooperative’s vice chairman Nguyen Van Thuc.

The Hoa Loc variety mangoes, originating in the cooperative’s own Hoa Hung commune in the Cai Be district, Tien Giang province, were selling for an average of VND25,000 (US$1.34) per kg, reported VOV News.

Hoa Loc cooperative has 100ha of mango orchards producing 400 tonnes of mangoes per year.

Tien Giang province has over 4,000ha of Hoa Loc mango orchards, mainly in Cai Be, said the VOV report.
