The South Korean government has announced it will cut tariffs on some vegetable imports after the price of fresh produce spiked in the country last month.
Bloomburg reported that the finance ministry has said it will remove tariffs on napa cabbages and radishes, the main ingredients in kimchi, from the middle of the month until the end of the year.
The ministry also announced it will lower tariffs on a range of other consumer products, reported Bloomburg.
Kimchi is regarded by many as the country’s signature dish with its production and consumption making up an integral part of Korean culture.
