Chinese lemon output is estimated at 14,650 tonnes in 2001/02, significantly down on the previous season following drought in Sichuan and Chongqing, the hubs of production. Nonetheless, the underlying trend is one of expansion. This has been reflected in ongoing investment in new plantings, especially Eureka, combined with the development of non-traditional areas, particularly in Yunnan, close to the Myanmar border.
