A 'Safe Product Discovery' link is contained within the site's Healthy Eating section offering a food intolerance database which allows customers to search for 'safe' Budgens own label products, by individual or by multiple intolerances.

Customers may choose from a total of 22 food intolerances, incorporating vegetarian and vegan preferences.

The site also highlights the launch of Budgens' new 'Free From' instore logo, also designed to help food-intolerant customers. The 'Free From' logo highlights foods free from one or several of the following: gluten, wheat, yeast, egg, soya, milk and additives.

The new logo appears on point of sale material and the launch of the initiative is supported by an instore consumer leaflet.

Generally, the revamped site now offers information on a wider range of options, including a corporate section and an extended company information page with details on Budgens, as well as Budgens Express, Budgens Local and Budgens Forecourt stores.

Corporate details about Musgrave, who acquired Budgens this year, are also featured, with a link to their website. Store location, product information including details on GM and organic ranges, and home delivery facilities still feature prominently.

A promotions section highlights Budgens special offers as well as a 'What's New' section with information on new products, with on-line discount vouchers to encourage trial.

The online 'Wine Search' facility to help consumers match wine and food, along with a 'Wine Expert' section is now easier to use, still giving helpful tips and advice on tasting and storage. The site also offers a flower delivery service to any UK address, and features a News Centre section giving readers the latest news on new stores and other developments.

A new recruitment section announces job vacancies throughout the Budgens chain and applications can be made online. Logging on with a simple user name and password allows applicants to track the progress of their application.

Budgens marketing manager, Joanne Mills, says: 'The internet is an excellent method by which shoppers can be kept up to date with new products, price promotions and important company news, and we are delighted with our much improved, more user-friendly site.'
