The blackcurrant conference will take place in June 2016

The UK will host the fifth International Blackcurrant Association conference in June of next year.

Held at Kent's Ashford International hotel, on 14-16 June 2016, the event will cover blackcurrant growing, functional and healthy foods made from blackcurrants, processing and marketing.

It will be organised by the UK blackcurrant foundation and marketing agency Partners in Produce.

The keynote address will be given by Ribena’s marketing director, and delegates will also get the chance to see practical demonstrations of new machinery at a farm-based event as part of the conference.

“There is a wealth of research being conducted into the health benefits of blackcurrants and our conference will bring together global leaders in health research, plant productivity and processing,” said conference organiser, Sarah Calcutt.

Anthony Snell, vice president of the International Blackcurrant Association, said: “I am delighted to welcome this prestigious event to the UK in 2016. The UK has done more than any other in developing the fruit, from plant breeding initiatives to the development of Ribena from superfruit Blackcurrants.”

Registration for this event is now open and tickets are available online.
