vitacress environment week 3

Vitacress has held its second annual Environment Week to engage employees in ways to protect and enhance the environment.

Staff took part in events such as aquatic sampling to review water quality, as well as talks and site tours at the company's bases in Hampshire and West Sussex.

Vitacress also made a £2,000 donation to the Manhood and Wildlife Heritage Group - which conducted a wildlife survey and moth trapping at St Mary Bourne in Hampshire - and sponsorship of the Eileen Savill Young Persons' Environmental Award.

The initiative was the brainchild of Vitacress environment manager Leah Mathias-Collins, who said:“Environment Week is a great opportunity to really engage our staff with the natural environment, which is so important to the work we do here at Vitacress.

'As a farming business we depend on the land to produce our salads and herbs, and we work hard to look after our natural environment so that what we do is as sustainable as possible.”

Steve's Leaves, a Vitacress product, is the only Conservation Grade-certified 'Fair to Nature' salad brand, the company claims, which means 10 per cent of its productive land is dedicated to creating habitats for wildlife and boosting biodiversity.
