Greenvale launch The Great Scottish Tattie Run outside Edinburgh Castle

Greenvale has become the sponsor of the Great Scottish Tattie Run, in which participants haul nets of potatoes on their shoulders over a one-mile course.

The event, which is part of the Great Scottish Walk & Run Festival, will take place at Holyrood Park in Edinburgh at 2pm on Sunday 18 June.

Tracey Mattock, marketing manager at Greenvale, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this event. We have two sites in Scotland, at Craigswalls near Duns and Burrelton in Perthshire and employ over 400 people from these sites alone.

“Sponsoring a tattie run is a perfect fit with our business and we hope that Greenvale employees and their families will come and join in.”

The event will take place over a one-mile course with men carrying a 20kg net of potatoes and ladies carrying 10kg. In addition, children from the age of two can enter various spud and spoon races, which take place over distances of between 50m and 200m.

Tracey Mattock added: “This will be a good fun afternoon out for the whole family and all of the tattie runs are free to enter. All entrants get to keep their potatoes too so there are no excuses for staying at home.”
