Some of the biggest names in foodservice have lent their support to British Food Fortnight, the annual celebration of UK-produced food and drink.

Sodexo, Brakes, Cucina, Harrison Catering, Whiting and Hammond and Sunrise Senior Living will all partner the event, running bespoke promotions across their sites from 23 September to 8 October.

In addition, the Hospital Caterers Association, National Association of Care Catering, The University Caterers Organisation and Sustainable Restaurant Association are all set to take part in this year’s edition, which is focused on increasing British food sourcing, particularly in the foodservice sector.

Sodexo, which serves around a million meals a day in the UK, will be running British Food Fortnight promotions in approximately 600 sites, including schools, hospitals and prisons.

“Sodexo is proud to partner British Food Fortnight,” said David Mulcahy, the catering supplier’s food development and innovation director. “Sourcing local, ethically-produced food is at the core of what we do.”

Meanwhile, Brakes customers will receive a wide range of breakfast recipes during the two-week event, with “twists on favourite dishes”.

Founder of Love British Food and British Food Fortnight, Alexia Robinson, said: “The support from foodservice outlets this year has been exceptional.Having so many high-profile organisations on board has prompted us to stage the first ever Love British Food ‘Foodservice Summit’ in London during the Fortnight with all the big names taking part.”

The event will take place on 28 September.
