Asia’s fresh fruit and vegetable market is growing fast, and Asia Fruit Logistica offers the key to unlocking its huge potential, according to event organiser Global Produce Events (GPE).
Asia’s only dedicated fresh fruit and vegetable trade fair – which takes place each September at Asia-World Expo Centre in Hong Kong – has become the hub of marketing efforts for companies from across the world and throughout the value chain eager to capitalise on the ripe opportunities in the region.
Exhibitor registrations are now open for Asia Fruit Logistica 2014, which takes place on 3-5 September alongside Asiafruit Congress on 2 September.
Asia Fruit Logistica 2013 enjoyed another record year, attracting more than 6,500 decision makers from 64 countries to Hong Kong, according to GPE. Exhibitor numbers increased by almost 10 per cent to 372 companies, while the number of countries represented rose by 23 per cent to 37 nations, making the event more international than ever.
“Asia Fruit Logistica has been a very good show for us,” said Ashok Pillay, senior director of trade management for the global reefer trade at leading shipping line APL Co, speaking at the 2013 event. “This year’s show has attracted many new visitors and it underlines the potential of Asia as a buying market. We’ve seen a lot more European visitors and exhibitors.”
Feedback from exhibitors underlined that the quality and scope of the visitors was a key factor in their successful outcomes from Asia Fruit Logistica 2013, as they were able to network and do business with dedicated fresh produce professionals and decision-makers from all over the world.
“At the exhibition we can connect with everyone and define our business programmes – it’s the one trip that saves you 20,” said José Antonio Gómez, chief commercial officer of major Peruvian agribusiness Camposol, one of 15 companies exhibiting under the Peru pavilion.
Exhibiting at Asia Fruit Logistica 2013 for the sixth consecutive year as part of the Fruit Growers Tasmania stand, Tim Reid of Australian grower-exporter Reid Fruits described the show as the best he’d been to. “The quality of the leads we’ve come away with to work on is exceptionally high, and they cover a range of markets, both existing and new ones.”
Asiafruit Congress once again takes place the day before Asia Fruit Logistica on 2 September 2014 with a full-day programme enabling delegates to get high-quality information and insights from expert speakers on trends, opportunities and strategies in the fast-changing Asian markets. The conference also serves as a key primer to the business discussions and negotiations that follow at Asia Fruit Logistica.
