Fresh exports jump in volume as China invests in improving Cambodian mango production

Cambodia’s mango industry has gone from strength to strength with demand from China helping to drive growth.

According to a report from Xinhua, the mango value chain in Cambodia is rapidly developing with production improving and new processing facilities being build all to feed China’s hunger for fresh and dried mango.

Cambodia gained access to China for mangoes back in 2020 and since then exports have accelerated. In 2024, Cambodia’s fresh mango exports surpassed US$140mn, marking a 24 percent increase from the previous year, with China being one of the key destinations.

Cambodian Ministry of Commerce’s undersecretary of state and spokesman Penn Sovicheat told Xinhua that Chinese enterprises investing in Cambodia have brought advanced technologies, improved farming techniques and pest control measures that have helped to increase production and add value.

Thanks to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement, more Cambodian agricultural products are being exported to China, the official added.
