Shipping group to offer Chilean exporters more weekly services to China this season, as country seeks to recover from disappointing 2024/25 campaign
Shipping group CMA CGM says it will offer cherry exporters in Chile an increased number of weekly services to China this year, as the South American country approaches what is set to be a crucial campaign.
Chile’s cherry exports have increased dramatically in the past decade. In 2024/25, the country shipped approximately 50 per cent more volume at around 625,000 tonnes – most of which went to China.
But a downturn in average prices, driven by concerns over the quality of some of those exports, meant that last season was disappointing overall for the Chilean export business.
CMA CGM’s new-season service again offers a transit time of 23 days between Chile and China, but this time around it will offer eight sailings instead of six.
The first of those sailings is due to depart the port of San Antonio on 1 December, and arrive in Shanghai on 24 December.
And the last of those eight departures is scheduled for 19 January, arriving in the Chinese port on 11 February.
