Dutch Peppers China

The season’s first batch of Dutch sweet peppers have entered the Chinese market less than 48 hours after being picked.

Jiajiayue Supermarket held a product launch ceremony in Shandong, alongside the Global Green Team, to celebrate the arrival on April 14.

The airfreighted peppers were grown by Harvest House – the largest grower cooperative in The Netherlands.

General manager of Global Green Team (the sales arm of Harvest House), Arno Verboom, said that there will be more new varieties being sent to China this year.

Dutch sweet peppers sent in 2016 saw a great response in tier one cities in China, according to Jiajiayue Group’s vice general manager, Li Mei.

The store’s Shandong outlet has improved customer awareness, and in-turn purchase rates for the peppers introduced last year.

The yellow/orange striped Enjoya pepper and tri-coloured sweet snacking peppers are the new varieties being introduced this year following the success of the regular sweet peppers.

“Healthy, nutritious, safe and delicious are the main selling points of the Dutch sweet peppers,” said Mei.

Holland exports around 85 per cent of its sweet pepper crop to overseas markets.
