Starfruit Malaysia

The promotion featured starfruit tastings

Malaysia is targeting Scandinavian markets for its tropical fruits, starting with a campaign in Sweden, reports Bernama.com.

The Malaysian Agriculture Representative Office at The Hague in the Netherlands organised its first ever two-day promotion in Sweden’s ICA Kvantum Emporia Malmo stores on 3 April with a view to testing out market opportunities, the report said.

Agriculture attaché Ahmadul Mokhtar Mohd Hayani said the campaign, which featured starfruit, jackfruit, papaya, mango, mangosteen and rambutan product sampling in stores, was aimed at opening avenues for Malaysian companies to penetrate the markets in Sweden and Scandinavian countries.

He said the event also gave Malaysian companies the opportunity to assess the buying power of target groups.

'This will enable Malaysian companies to review and assess ability and purchasing power of local communities, as well as to enhance close cooperation with major supermarket chains in Sweden,' he told Bernama.

The promotions were organised in collaboration with Malaysia’s DRS Trading Sdn Bhd, AS Holland and Scandinavian retail chain ICA Group AB.
