David Walker is to be re-appointed Chairman of the British Potato Council, announced agriculture minister Joyce Quin this week. Starting on October 1, he will continue in his post for a further three years. Remuneration for his three day week post is £54,743 per annum. According to Maff rules, he has never carried out any political activities and does not hold any other ministerial appointments. Before becoming chairman of the BPC, Mr Walker was managing director of Cyanamid Agriculture Ltd. He has been chairman of the BPC since it was established in 1997.
