Members of the media gained an insight into edibles at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show earlier this month during a preview showing.

During the tour, journalists visited a garden designed by ex-Hadlow College student Mandy Buckland BA (Hons), named Food 4 Thought.

The garden is a modern courtyard centred on the diverse range of food produced in Kent - the ‘Garden of England’.

The garden showcases food that Kent used to produce, food it currently produces and “food that the ‘Garden of England’ must produce if we are to effect food security in light of growing world population”.

A group of Hadlow College Year 2 Degree Garden Design students is helping with the initial construction of ‘Food 4 Thought’ with guidance from ex-Hadlow student, now lecturer, Brian Hawtin.

Hadlow College has enjoyed a great deal of success in the past, winning numerous Gold Medals for college-sponsored garden designs.
