Fresh Herbs prove an Innocent success

A new campaign designed to promote fresh herbs set up its first stand amid Morris dancing and welly wanging at the Innocent Village Fete in Regent’s Park last weekend, giving away over 5,000 freshly cut herbs.

Launched back in June, the Fresh Herbs campaign will use promotions and a newly-created website to increase the profile of fresh herbs. The website will incorporate ideas for time-strapped chefs and details of the health benefits of using fresh herbs.

The campaign sees seven of the UK’s major herb suppliers - representing over 90 percent of fresh culinary herbs sold in the UK’s supermarkets - joining forces, with R & G Fresh Herb Solutions, Humber VHB, Lighthorne Herbs, Scotherbs, Agrexco, Arava and Swedeponic all taking part.

Spokesperson for Fresh Herbs Mathew Prestwich said: “The fete was an ideal opportunity for us to talk to consumers about the benefits of using fresh herbs. The weekend was a huge success, and we will continue to look at other sampling opportunities where we can obtain useful consumer insight and challenge perceptions.”
