The Ghanaian fresh produce sector will be represented at the upcoming Fruit Logistica fair in Berlin with the presence of the Federation of the Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE).

FAGE intends to promote Ghana’s non-traditional exports, particularly fresh-cut fruit and vegetables from its stand at the fair on February 2-4.

FAGE’s ceo Augustine Adongo, received a personal invitation to the fair which also features the 25th Fresh Produce Forum on the theme “Fresh Cut-Convenience brings added value”.

Adongo said Fruit Logistica offers Ghana an opportunity not only to identify markets for its fresh-cut produce in Europe, but also to show the scale of potential and prospects for growth and help exporters recognize the right marketing strategies and operational measures to adopt. He said the fair should also help FAGE discover whether apart from the convenience provided by the new trend in fresh cut products, the market also provides bigger profits.

“We should engage in demand-driven production. We must look at the market first before the product,” said Adongo, adding that the show provides a unique opportunity to participants from Ghana to determine existing viable markets that exporters should target.
