Koppert Biological Systems has launched a new blower that can be used to quickly and effectively release natural enemies in vegetable crops and ornamentals.

The Mini-Airbug device can be used to achieve a concentrated distribution of predatory mites over the entire crop up to a distance of 1.5 to two metres, or for the control of local hot-spots.

The advantages of the Mini-Airbug are fourfold: natural enemies are distributed over the crop very evenly, increasingly the effectiveness of pest control; in a single work session, different combinations of natural enemies can be released, such as thrips, mite and whitefly, reducing the labour required by 80 per cent; and the device can also be used in all crops, as well as being flexible and simple to use.

This Mini-Airbug, like the Airobug and Airbug launched previously, has been completely developed in-house. Koppert is continuously working to optimise solutions tailored to the practice of horticulture and agriculture. The company believes that this patented introduction technology offers growers the opportunity to make their integrated crop protection even more efficient and user-friendly.

Alongside the Mini-Airbug, Koppert also has the following release systems in its range:

Airobug, for ornamentals: a fully automatic blower with an automatic pilot. The Airobug delivers natural enemies to the crop across a width of between 10 and 13 metres.

Airbug, for ornamentals: a semi-automatic blower with a working width of four metres.
