Christian Salvesen already operates three purpose-built UK regional distribution centres (RDC) for M&S, handling a range of non-food products as well as managing significant food contracts. Under the new contract, Christian Salvesen will manage these sites for a further five years.

The award follows a review by M&S aimed at optimising the management of its supply chain, and involving an extensive competitive tender process.

Edward Roderick, chief executive of Christian Salvesen, said: 'M&S is one of our most important customers with whom we have worked closely for 25 years. The fact that they have extended our role in their UK supply chain management for a further five years is a very important success for Christian Salvesen, and illustrates the quality and value of the service that we can offer.'
