The annual National Food Safety Week will take place from June 14 to June 20.

The event aims to highlight the importance of food safety and the basic principles of food hygiene to everyone preparing food.

The focus for 2004 will be on raising awareness of how easily germs can be spread. This will encompass a range of cross-contamination issues including; the importance of avoiding cross-contaminating between cooked/ready-to-eat foods and raw foods, the importance of thorough cleaning and how easily germs can be spread by hands and utensils onto other foods.
