Foodex Meatex, the food industry exhibition, has revealed its plans for its 2004 show, which is due to take place March 14-17.

The event aims to be markedly different from 2002. Since the last show, Foodex has been carrying out detailed research to deliver an even better show and have targeted new exhibitor sectors. Areas which previous visitors have stated that they have an interest in and would like to see included are: fresh produce, organics, ingredients and ready meals.

New ideas in place for 2004 include a virtual stand, which will allow companies unable to attend to have an interactive site at the event, and they will be available at a lower cost. There will be a self-awareness zone, which will be geared up to career development with recruitment consultants available to give free advice. The opening times have also altered; Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will be 9:30am – 5pm and Wednesday will be 9:30 – 4pm.

The opening day will be family-friendly with a designated area for children based on a circus theme and a chill-out zone for partners where they can kick back and relax.

Steve Bax, chief executive of Foodex said: 'The research we have completed is critical to developing the exhibition and is vital to make it relevant to exhibitors and visitors alike.'
