Morrisons is predicting it will report annual profits better than previous forecasts.
Sales growth is “well ahead of the market”, said the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket chain.
Morrisons attributed the growth to its price positioning and improvements to its supply chain, the BBC reported. Second-quarter sales volume increased.
“An increasing number of customers are shopping with Morrisons... the board has confidence that the company’s full-year results will be ahead of its earlier expectations,” said a statement from Morrisons.
Shares in the chain rose seven per cent after the announcement.
