Blanc: new SRA president

Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc has been appointed the new president of the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA).

Blanc will start his tenure by appealing to the public to learn more about how food is produced and to challenge restaurant menus to match consumer values.

Raymond Blanc, OBE, said: "The types of questions we should be asking are: Where does your meat and fish come from? Can we take home our leftovers? What is the restaurant’s policy on tips?

"I want all UK restaurants to show their support and help us rise to the challenge of making this country's restaurants the most sustainable in the world."

Launched in 2010, the SRA works with more than 1,000 restaurants of all kinds across the UK.
