There is still more than a fortnight to go before British Tomato Week gets under way on 17 May, but nurseryman Andy Beeston is getting in on the act early.
The crop supervisor from Cornerways Nursery, near Downham Market in Norfolk plans to get the event off to a flying start by running the 2010 Great East Anglia Run on Sunday dressed as a tomato.
Nigel Bartle, manager at Tesco-supplier Cornerways and chairman of the TGA has agreed to match any sponsorship monies rasied by regular charity-runner Beeston, who will be running the 10km race in Kings Lynn tomorrow to raise money for East Anglian Children’s Hospices.
