Village joined M&S after obtaining a degree in Horticulture at Nottingham University. He has spent most of his career working in developing fruit, and also a short period in the vegetables and flowers/plants sectors.
He has been involved in several innovations over the years. “I have worked with growers throughout the world on improving the quality and safety of our fruit. I have been involved in extending availability seasons and developing improved varieties,” he says. “For example, when I joined the company cherries were not sold in M&S, we are now the market leader in the UK with nine months of the year covered and further prospects of increasing that with new varieties.
Village remains passionate about fruit, and looking to the future hopes to remain in the industry for several more years.
