Study tour will take Australian growers to the US and the Global Produce and Floral Show later this year.
The International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA), together with Hort Innovation, has opened applications for the inaugural Global Grower Leaders programme headed to Florida in October.

The study tour will strengthen leadership capability, providing exposure to global innovation, emerging technologies, sustainability initiatives, retail environments, international supply chains, and industry mentors through attendance at the Global Produce and Floral Show 2026.
IFPA A-NZ managing director Belinda Wilson said the study tour would include curated site visits and guided tours of leading organisations.
“We’re building strong, connected leaders across Australian horticulture by facilitating international relationships and providing exposure to global best practice and emerging technologies,” she said.
“The programme will build leadership capability and benefit the industry more broadly by bringing practical knowledge to accelerate innovation across the fresh produce supply chain - ultimately driving growth and enhancing competitiveness.”
Hort Innovation general manager of production and sustainability R&D Anthony Kachenko said the programme would build on a range of projects already supported by Hort Innovation to develop leadership skills and bring global best practice and innovation home to maintain Australia’s position as a global leader of fresh produce.
“Strong, future-focused industries are built on capable people. This programme is part of Hort Innovation’s broader investment in developing leadership capability at every stage of the pipeline, giving growers the opportunity to gain global perspectives, build international networks, explore global innovation, and bring practical insights back to their businesses and the wider industry. By connecting Australian growers with global best practice and innovation, we’re helping strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of our sector,” he said.
Applications for the Global Grower Leaders programme close 10 July 2026 and can be made via the IFPA website.
