Internationally proven system enables rapid, uniform planting with precise spacing and depth control
Global transplanting technology provider Plant Tape officially launched its presence in Australia at Vic Vid 2026. The Plant Tape system introduces a new approach to transplanting, designed to help growers improve efficiency, reduce labour reliance and deliver more consistent crop establishment across a range of vegetable crops.

Developed as an integrated solution from seeding and nursery propagation through to field planting, the system enables rapid, uniform planting with precise spacing and depth control, supporting stronger yields and more predictable outcomes.
The system has already been deployed internationally across a wide range of crops and conditions. The introduction of Plant Tape to the Australian market marks a new option for growers looking to modernise operations and respond to ongoing labour and cost pressures.
“Plant Tape represents a new era of transplanting,” said Lance Portman, President of Plant Tape. “We’re excited to bring this proven technology to Australian growers and support the industry with solutions that deliver long term performance.”
At Vic Vid, the technology was showcased publicly in Australia for the first time, with the system on display alongside seedling trays, giving growers and industry stakeholders the opportunity to see how it works up close.
“The timing for Plant Tape in Australia is critical,” said David Fragapane, director of Plant Tape Australia. “Growers are under pressure from labour shortages and rising costs, and this system offers a practical, scalable way to improve efficiency and consistency in the field. I believe Plant Tape, may well be the single most important innovation for Australian Farmers in many years.”
