National Banana day campaign sees Australian Bananas team up with over 900 gyms across Australia
To celebrate National Banana Day on 7 October, Australian Bananas will bring back its celebrated Banana Gym Pass campaign for the third consecutive year.

The initiative which allows consumers to access free entry to gyms with an Australian banana was first launched in 2024 and was named a finalist in the 2025 Seeka Marketer of the Year Award.
This year the campaign will encourage gym goers to bring a friend, citing consumer research that suggests nearly half (45 per cent) of Australians feel more inspired to get active alongside someone they know. This is especially strong among Gen Z (ages 18 - 29), spiking to 7 in 10 (71 per cent) who prefer to workout alongside a friend.
“Whether you’re lifting heavy on the gym floor, enjoying a stretching session, or introducing a friend to the gym for the very first time, showing up with a buddy and an Aussie banana is the easiest way to get energised,” Australian Bananas said in a release.
Over 900 gyms across Australia are participating in the initiative this year, including major networks such as Fitness First, Goodlife Health Clubs, Fernwood Fitness, Plus Fitness, Club Lime, Zap Fitness, World Gym, and more.
“It’s fantastic to have the Banana Gym Pass back for its third year,” said Australian banana grower, Miki Buchanan. “As growers, we absolutely love seeing Aussies use our bananas not just as their ticket into the gym, but also as their go-to training snack. Bananas are packed with essential nutrients like potassium and vitamin B6 to restore tired muscles and keep you powered through every session.”
