The initial programme for the International Fresh Produce Safety Symposium 2026 (IFPSS26) had been announced, matching science meets real-world application.

The announcement comes with one week to go until the event’s early-bird ticket sale ends on Thursday 30 April. IFPSS26 will take place on 21-22 July at Novotel Sydney International Airport.

The theme for IFPSS26 is ’Evidence into Action’ and the content will connect global expertise with local challenges, bringing the people who shape food safety across the supply chain together in one place.

IFPSS26 will emphasise practical implementation of food safety practices, providing valuable insights to growers, QA managers, auditors, advisors and scientists alike.

Dr Elisabeth (Betsy) Bihn of the Produce Safety Alliance (US), will kick off proceedings on the first day of IFPSS26, challenging attendees to rethink how industry trains, engages and empowers people in food safety.

It will also cover topics including  risk assessment and mitigation, bridging science and implementation and include a practical workshop on identifying pain points and strengthening food safety.

Day two continues the momentum with D’Arcie Rice (British Leafy Salads Association, UK), sharing practical, grounded approaches to make food safety more accessible for growers. This is followed by sessions focused on building knowledge and capability across the industry, smart standards and data driven decision making, finishing with a practical workshop on risk assessment development and adoption.

The IFPSS field day also returns in 2026. This year, delegates will experience fresh produce food safety in action with a visit to Family Fresh Farms, showcasing best practice and food safety culture in action.

The field day will be held on 20 July. Spaces are limited and will be issued on a first come first serve basis and are only available when registering for the full two-day event.
