Platform allows users to track daily price highs and lows, volume trends, and distribution patterns across Australia’s major central markets.
Fresh Markets Australia (FMA) has announced the launch FreshData, a new industry-developed, market price reporting digital platform at Hort Connections 2025.
The platform was created in response to long-standing discussions – reinforced by the ACCC’s 2020 Perishable Agricultural Goods Inquiry– about the value of improving visibility of market pricing across the horticulture supply chain. That need remains relevant today, and FreshData offers a practical, industry-led solution that strengthens understanding without disrupting how markets operate.
Supported by the federal government and delivered in partnership with state industry bodies in the central markets, FreshData aims to put verified pricing insights directly into the hands of traders, growers, and supply chain participants.
“FreshData doesn’t change the market—it reflects it. It shows what’s happening on the ground, in real time,” said Shane Schnitzler, chair of Fresh Markets Australia.
The platform allows users to track daily price highs and lows, volume trends, and distribution patterns across Australia’s major central markets. It also offers comparative insights over seven, 14, or 30 days, supporting seasonal analysis and market awareness.
While live data will roll out progressively in the coming months, the platform is designed to scale as adoption – expanding both data coverage and analytical features.
“This platform exists because industry asked for it,” said Gail Woods, project manager for FreshData. “FreshData supports transparency without changing how markets operate—and this is only the beginning.”
In addition to price insights, subscribers can also access product standards through FreshSpecs, curated industry news and updates and verification of FreshTest certificates via direct platform links or mobile QR scan. The FreshData platform went live on 5 June and is free for an introductory period.
