Across the festival weekend (30 January to 1 February), NZ Avocado will be serving up generous samples of freshly made guacamole proving just how easy and delicious avocados can be as an everyday ingredient.

Held at Aotea Square, this year’s event promises not only culinary delights but also an immersive festival atmosphere, with Latin music performances, dance displays, and a samba parade taking place throughout the weekend.

Adding to the excitement, a ‘guac-off’ will take place. Chefs from Mexican and South American backgrounds will go head-to-head, showcasing their own regional twists on guacamole. While one chef will be named the winner, the real victory belongs to the crowd, who will be invited to taste and compare guacamole from various stalls across the festival, including the NZ Avocado booth.

CEO of NZ Avocado, Brad Siebert, said the event is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the versatility of avocados as the hero of any dish, celebrating bold Latin flavours while reminding New Zealanders that avocados are in season, highly nutritious and on trend for summer entertaining. He encouraged attendees to take inspiration from the festival and bring that creativity home, using avocados across fresh, vibrant summer meals.
