Wales joins after three years as chief people and safety officer at the Sunshine Coast-based Maleny Dairies  

Piñata Farms has appointed seasoned human resources and industrial relations specialist, Jason Wales, as general manager people and culture.

Jason Wales 

Wales’ role drives the development and implementation of initiatives to attract, develop, retain and engage employees while ensuring compliance with workplace relations, health and safety legislation, and best-practice people management. 

He is responsible for managing the employment of up to 350 employees in peak periods including a seasonal workforce recruited under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme. 

Prior to joining Piñata Farms, he was chief people and safety officer at the Sunshine Coast-based Maleny Dairies for three years. Previously, he spent more than seven years at Business Chamber Queensland, progressing to general manager people and culture by 2020.   

Based at Piñata Farms’ head office at Wamuran, south-east Queensland, he was appointed in July. 

Wales, whose family managed a cattle station and was involved in the cane industry in North Queensland’s Mackay region, has a passion for Australia’s farming sector and enjoys bridging the gap between employers and employees to achieve a great outcome. 

He holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Human Resource Management from Central Queensland University, a Diploma of HR Management from CQ TAFE and a Masters in Employee Relations at Griffith University.
