Morey’s extensive experience spans some 30 years from working with government, industry and private organisations in Australia and internationally. His key capabilities include stakeholder engagement, building resilient and adaptable teams, achieving budgetary and financial gains through astute business acumen and targeting research and development projects that deliver priority solutions.

Prior to joining Sumitomo, Morey was regional manager Victoria for leading Australian agribusiness AGnVET. His previous roles include business manager horticulture and technical services at AGnVET, director at MoreLink Asia Pacific, agronomist at I K Caldwell and industry development officer at Agriculture Victoria.

“David’s appointment is a significant step towards driving growth across the business. He is a highly regarded industry figure whose proven credentials are a great addition to the leadership team,” said Sumitomo Chemical Australia managing director Brett Ryan.

He said Morey’s appointment followed an extensive search for an exceptional candidate to lead an expanded sales network.

Morey said Sumitomo’s product range, including biostimulants and several proprietary products now under development, appealed to his primary objective to help producers protect their crops and increase productivity while improving industry outcomes generally.

He will lead a team of ten regional managers strategically based near key growing regions around Australia.
