Organisations invest A$400,000 over the next four years to empower individuals aged 25-40 who will drive innovation and sustainability in the sector
Major Australian retailer Woolworths has partnered with the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) to launch the AgriEmpower Scholarship.
Together the organisations will invest A$400,000 over the next four years to empower 20 young professionals in Australian agriculture industry. The AgriEmpower Scholarship will provide A$20,000 to each recipient, to go towards their nominated project or professional development to drive the future prosperity of the agriculture sector.
“As Australia’s Fresh Food People, our connection to Australian farmers is fundamental,” said Annette Karantoni, Woolworths retail managing director. “Our partnership with the NFF, including the AgriEmpower Scholarship, demonstrates our commitment to the long-term strength and innovation of the Australian agriculture sector. We believe in empowering individuals who will drive innovation and sustainability in the sector.”
The scholarship will seek to award driven, innovative thinkers aged 25-40 with a range of experiences, ideas, and skills contributing to Australia’s agricultural future.
“The Scholarship is unique because it doesn’t require participants to fit a particular mould,” said NFF President, David ‘DJ’ Jochinke. “It’s the opposite – we want young people with a range of experiences, ideas and skills to be the recipients of this opportunity. It’s driven, innovative thinkers today, who will lead the charge in reaching A$100bn by 2030.”
