Typhoon Frank destroyed almost P900m-worth of agricultural crops and infrastructure when it hit Eastern Visayas, the Philippines, on Sunday, according to initial estimates released in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The cost of total losses could rise once reports come in from other municipalities in the region, it said.

Fields, roads and bridges were ravaged by the storm, which has so far claimed three lives.

The town of Isabel, Leyte, sustained the worst damage to agriculture and infrastructure (estimated at P620m), followed by Kananga with combined losses of P241.70m, the paper said.

The town of Capoocan reported a P5.4m infrastructure damage; Bato, P10.2m in damage to agriculture and infrastructure; and Jaro, P1m in infrastructure damage.
