An agreement made in April which opened the door to sales of US citrus in China, will lead to the setting up of a Florida citrus office based in Beijing to promote the product. The office in China will be responsible for finding disribution channels for both citrus and other farm-produced goods from the US. Although China remains outside of the World Trade Organisation, the country's premier, Zhu Rongji took the decision to lower trade sanctions for citrus from California, Texas and Florida. To date, the majority of China citrus imports have been provided by Australia and South Africa.
