According to NZ press reports, the storm, which struck over the weekend, lasted just 20 minutes but hit some big kiwifruit orchards. Damage has not yet been quantified, but is localised: while some growers lost a lot of fruit, it is hoped the impact on the crop industry-wide for export will be minimal.
