Seven's storage solutions

Ipswich-based company Seven Asset Management contracts hire portable cold storage units and vehicles to businesses all over the UK. It is a company which prides itself on a proactive approach to providing the best possible service and products for its clients. This includes the constant incorporation of new technology into its units to ensure that customers benefit from all the latest developments.

The most recent of these innovations is the Seven Asset Monitoring System (SAMS). Developed in conjunction with a local company, SAMS is a method of ensuring that cargo temperature is maintained, guaranteeing fresh stock and peace of mind.

Warwick Dunnett, director and general manager of Seven Asset Management, says: “This system ensures that our units are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing more efficient temperature control and less worrying. We are very pleased to be able to offer the facility to our customers and the feedback we have received so far has been exceedingly positive.”

The system installed on each coldstore links via the internet. Seven Asset head office can monitor the fleet for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each unit monitors and records up to four temperature probes set throughout the cargo loading area, and separate switches monitor door openings, power supply, ambient temperature, defrost cycles etc. Once any of the parameters are exceeded an alarm system is activated. A nominated member of staff then receives an email and SMS text notification explaining which unit, where and alarm code. Action can be taken to rectify the problem, whether it be a unit malfunction or customer leaving door open for long periods.

It has been such a success that one major supermarket now has the system fitted as standard on all refrigerated equipment supplied by Seven, while another supermarket is also trialing the system.
