The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has welcomed hints from the M6 toll operator that it may consider reviewing its pricing structure.

The FTA says that the present toll of £10 for lorries, to increase to £11 after 10million vehicles have used the road is prohibitive.

FTA external affairs director Geoff Dossetter said: “A price review for lorries would be very welcome and in our view, essential if we are to see a worthwhile growth in the number of lorries using the road.

It would be in the interests of all road users in the territory if a greater number of lorries migrated to the M6 toll. But they will only do so if the price is right. Hopefully the suggested review of tolls could mark a return to the original plans.”
